The Dwarves of Moonshade live with the secret sins of Hammerknell, too ashamed even to use their clan names. Among these refugees, the orphan Scotty was soft-spoken and less than confident, an embarrassment to his kinfolk. Scotty became a student of magic at Quicksilver College, but the derision of his classmates was even worse than that of his fellow Dwarves. Soon he found himself victim of a cruel prank. But Scotty’s actions bespoke a heroic nature that may help the Ascended in their struggles.
