Who will determine Telara’s fate in this rift-born apocalypse? The Ascended strive tirelessly to beat back wave after wave of elemental nightmares, while sinister cultists urge the invaders on in hopes of spoiling the world. Some figures stand out even among these reborn heroes and vile traitors, legends whose exploits are recounted around every campfire.
Telara’s most notable inhabitants vary greatly. Some climbed from squalor to the heights of power, to raise their countrymen with them, or exploit the downtrodden as they themselves once were exploited. The great and powerful might be dashing archers or bloodthirsty maniacs, savvy politicians, rebel mages, or freebooting adventurers forced to bear the burden of command.
For all the Ascended and monsters roaming Telara, mortals still hold great influence, striving to bring their side mastery over the world. Many notable personages have not been seen or heard from in some time. Presumed dead, they could resurface or even Ascend, but their influence over Telara is felt even in their absence.
Mortals—resurrected or otherwise—are only the smallest beings vying for control of the world. Majestic gods and cosmic horrors both seek dominion, and it is often their hidden wills that spur the mortal races to action.
Whatever the nature and abilities one of the mighty brings to bear, each will leave a mark, both on Telara and on the heroes who strive to defend it.
